Employee of the Month October
Ekrem Mehmedov
Ekrem
Ekrem Mehmedov works as a reach truck driver at Versteijnen, a warehouse in Tilburg. He picks orders for clients and works two shifts in his job, but that is not where his passion lies.
‘I was gifted the house of my parents in Bulgaria and I decided to start my own business’, Ekrem explains. To earn start-up money for his business he and his sister made the leap to work in the Netherlands. He has been working for Versteijnen for almost 6 months now.In the meantime the house in Bulgaria has been demolished and he wants to build a production hall for his business. Ekrem has a website where he sells clothes and one where you can order customized engravings on wooden objects.‘What I am learning from working in the Netherlands is the way everything is structured.
Communication between people is really efficient’, Ekrem says. Ekrem has three people working for him in Bulgaria that take in orders when they arrive. ‘I can earn up to three times as much in the Netherlands. So, I am working here to support my business. After a while I also want to build a new house next to the production hall’, says Ekrem. One of the most important things while working in any business is language. Ekrem agrees. It is the basis of good communication. The better you speak English or Dutch in the Netherlands the better your changes are at working a higher paying job in the Netherlands.
