Iva Georgieva

Iva Georgieva is one of the first recruiters of BAM Works. She has worked for the company for 8 years. ‘In the beginning I was the only one who recruited in Bulgaria. It felt like a huge responsibility to be recruiting for an entire country’, Iva explains. ‘Next to Recruiter I was also the Bulgarian job coach’, says Iva. She guided new workers from the moment they send in their application till the moment they travelled to the Netherlands.  She answered every question they had about their job. ‘It was hard work, and I am really grateful that I now have the help of new Recruiters in Bulgaria, Romania and Poland. In the Netherlands we have a Bulgarian job coach. She can help the workers directly with every question they have. I am happy that BAM Works has grown so much. It’s nice to be part of a team’, Iva explains further.
One of the accomplishments Iva is most proud of is the fact that she has recruited a group of Bulgarian drivers. They still work for BAM Works and are capable, hardworking and loyal drivers. ‘The highest compliment I got was when the planning department called me and asked me if I could clone one of the drivers of this group, because they were so happy with his work. That gave me great satisfaction in my work’, says Iva.

The psychological aspect of the job is something that attracted Iva to the job of Recruiter. The difference in culture is something that has fascinated Iva. ‘I’d like to widen my knowledge on different people and different cultures. I especially like to find out what kind of sense of humor someone has. When you know what makes someone laugh, you get to be on the same wavelength’, so says Iva. This knowledge makes it easier to relate and to find a good match between the applicant and the company.

One thing Iva always tries to bring from her own culture is romance. ‘If you make your everyday tasks just a little more romantic, the work is so much easier. Iva lives by this principle and that is why is very glad to live one of the most romantic towns of Bulgaria. At the time this interview is being held is snowing in Bulgaria and she looks out to a park. ‘Even if it is not your taste, if you put the spice of romance in your life, everything becomes more beautiful.

She is right, of course. The area where she lives, with her husband and her 17 year old son, has been a film location for several Hollywood movies. ‘Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone came to a locattion near our town to shoot a movie’ , Iva explains excitedly.  

Iva looks back at these past 8 years with gratitude and pride. She can recommend this job to anyone who loves to work with people. The tip Iva has for new recruiters is this: ‘Be open and flexible and be open to learning from experienced recruiters. We love to help you get started in your career.’
