Volodymyr Chaban

Volodymyr has fled Ukraine as all Ukrainian refugees because of the war. Six month ago he came here with his family and found a temporary home in the refugee shelter in Biezenmortel. BAM Works was one of the participants of the job market that was held there. He took this opportunity to apply to a job as gardener for company J. van Esch. Now he works on different project throughout the Netherlands. Together with a team they keep the streets tidy and keep the parks and roads looking pristine.

What Volodymyr likes about this job is that he gets to work outside and to breathe in the fresh air. His goal is to have a good career with J. van Esch. If that happens, he would like to stay in the Netherlands. ‘The people are always smiling and very helpful’, Volodymyr explains.

‘The Netherlands is a very beautiful place and the food is ok, but nothing beats a good homecooked Ukrainian meal’, says Volodymyr. That is one of the things he misses the most about his home country. That and his friends and family at home.
