Certificate of Conduct

If you apply for a job in the Netherlands at BAM Works, it is mandatory to provide your future employer with a Certificate of Good Behavior. For all positions at BAM Works it is required to have a Certificate of Good Behavior. You provide this once at the start of your Dutch contract.  If you will be working as a truck driver, or you will be working at a military airbase, it is even necessary to keep this up to date annually. We require this because these jobs require more than just qualifications and experience. A higher level of trust and responsibility is required here.

What is a Certificate of Good Conduct?

A Certificate of Good Conduct is a document that provides information about a person's criminal record or lack thereof. It serves as proof of a person's integrity and reliability, especially in activities involving vulnerable groups, sensitive information or positions of trust.

Do you need a Dutch Certificate of Good Conduct?

In most cases, a Certificate of Good Behavior from your home country is sufficient. Each country has a different procedure for obtaining this certificate, but usually it is very simple. You can contact your local government agency and they will ask you to fill out a form. Then you have to give them the proper documentation. After they verify that you are not or have not been involved in criminal activity, they will review your application. If everything is in order, the authorities will issue the certificate of conduct.

The review process usually takes a few weeks. The authorities review any criminal record and determine if the issuance of a Certificate of Conduct is appropriate.
